tapestry shred, what does it do?
So i bought gwen a flute, a cape, and have been giving her flowers non-stop (around 10 or so). On my other character, she gave me the tapestry shred right after i gave her the cape. Does the tapestry shred do anything? I know it's a quest item but is it essential? Should I keep spending time looking for red iris flowers to give her? Any help would be much appreciated.

I've never seen the tapestry shred. I've never had the money to buy her the cape either. I gave her a new flute and 1 flower and she now follows me around occasionally healing me.

I've run through this a bnuch of different ways. Giving Gwen flowers and then a cape. Cape and then flowers. Flowers and then a cape and then some more flowers. I can't discern the pattern yet. Nor have I found a use for the Tapestry Shard.
What I do know: -Giving Gwen a Flute (4G at any Outfitter) will cause her to periodically heal you for 20 health when you take damage. -You can buy a cape for 200G and give that to her, too. -You can give her flowers which sell for 5G at a merchant. -After she's "happy" enough she'll give you a Tapestry Shard. If you have any flowers or a cape you'll have to a)give them to her or b)drop them before she'll give you the shard.

I have spent more hours in the tutorial than any sane person ever would, doing every quest I could conceivably find .. and yet .. i've never figured out what the Tapestry is for, either. I guess it's just there for effect / story telling purposes.

thanks
thanks for the info. spooky, like you i spent an insane amount of time in pre-searing ascalon. two level nine pre-searing characters can attest to that. though i still haven't found the combination of what makes gwen happy. there's just too many variables (profession might have something to do with it?) so i decided to just forget trying to attain the shred.
thanks for all the help and information though, i appreciate it. |

I just gave her 10 flowers and that made her happy enough to give tapestry. Don't know what it does.

All I've found that the red flowers are good for is easy money and giving to Gwen. They are everywhere. Tho I did notice they weren't so many of them this weekend. In pre sear they are worth 5gp each but in post sear they are only worth 1 gp each. As for the tapestry I never found a use for it either and ended up dropping it in post sear. It seems none of the quest items from pre sear are worth anything in post sear.

does gwen say anything when she gives the tapestry shred? maybe you have to give it to her mother when you meet her in the underworld... but that's just a wild guess...

There is also a broken flute of gwens in post searing Ascalon. Maybe the tapestry and that broken flute are part of a future quest that has yet to be uncovered?

I was under the impression that the broken flute in post-Searing was just to suggest that Gwen died.
...then again, maybe she just moved on to the saxophone. -- Scaper-X |

Well This might be off track but I think I saw in Ashford someone Named Sarah i think this was on my charcather that I Bought her the flute didnt think much of it cause I thought it was Just an NPC and didnt have an quest Icon. Dont I went to the underworld via the temple of ages and I Found out gwen's mom is named Sarah maybe you can do something with the shred i Ashford that or you give it to someone in the underworld.
I'm thinking in pre-searing if you give her enough something will appear somewhere maybe Sarah in Ashford. I'm really not sure didn't have time to experiemnt but you have to think 200 gold for a little girls cape there has to be something special about it Last edited by OrangeArrow; Apr 22, 2005 at 12:16 AM // 00:16.. |

hmmm. did you guys/gals buy the cape for 200g before you got the tapestry.
cuz the only things i gave gwen were a few flowers/broken flute and let her follow me at diff times and ones she suddenly gave me the tapestry after i gave here a flower, w/o buying her the new cape...but she didnt heal me at any of the times she followed me either. weird. i guess her info is still a mystery if you get into specifics of her story. It would be a nice hidden/secret side quest to get the tapestry from pre-sear and in order to complete it, u need to give it to someone after academy. also. I havent read much on her story, but is gwen dead or alive or whats happened to her after pre-sear...cuz it would be funny to see her after pre-sear all grown up which then u can give her the tapestry and she remembers you and rewards you with a "useful" item/weapon? side note: anyone else get distracted when your fighting and she prances around saying like a paragraph(s) of info about ppl/parents....it makes my eyes get away from the fighting, to just read them....quite funny... |

This my sound like a newbie what where is the underworld via the temple of ages is it in Pre-sear because I thought I have explored all of that place. If it is in post-sear then I did not spend as much time there as I wanted to.

Sarah
OK, I ran into Sarah a while ago in Ashford Village. She just stated she needed Myrtle Weed. After getting the Tapestry Shred I went back and she's gone!

I was kind of hoping that towards the end game you would run into Gwen again all grown up (years later obviously) and the tapestry would come in useful at that point. I banked mine just in case.

Gwen's mom needed the weed, not Gwen.
